Trade Review: SN

Share

SharkNinja, Inc. (SN) was identified using our custom Stocks on the Move - Clenow screener. We entered on August 27, 2026. The stop was hit on September 1, 2026 and we were out for a -4.14% loss.

Setup

SharkNinja ranked into the buy band of our Clenow momentum screen, which sorts candidates by annualized exponential regression slope weighted by R-squared - a ranking that rewards a steady advance over a violent one. Size came from the volatility target rather than conviction: the stop sat 4.21% below entry, and the position was sized so that distance equals our standard per-trade risk. The system takes every qualifying name at the same intended risk and lets the exit rules decide which ones matter.

Entry

We entered SN on August 27, 2026.

Initial Stop

The position had defined risk before entry: a stop 4.21% below entry.

Target

This system carries no profit target. A position is held while it stays in the top-ranked band and above its trend filter, and is closed when it drops out of the ranks or the stop is hit. What the trade needed was time in a rising trend. It got three sessions.

Result

We exited on September 1, 2026 for a -4.14% loss, or -0.98R against the initial risk. The stop filled a shade better than plan, so the loss came in at 0.98R against a planned 1.00R - an exit at the intended risk, with no slippage against us.

Lesson

Nothing here was mispriced or mistimed. Market Regime is currently mixed. We need to be more mindful of the Market Regime when executing trades. The trade was stopped for slightly under a full R, which is exactly the outcome a trend system is built to absorb. The number worth auditing after a week like this is position risk, not entry quality: SN and QLYS came off the same screen a day apart and the system rated them equals, yet QLYS carried roughly 3.1 times SN's risk. Equal-risk sizing is the whole point of a volatility target, and this pair did not honor it.
